Students

Students are great creatures. They have young energy and they have a very strong social sensitivity. Today I worked with young people at the Conservatory of Utrecht. Especially looking for the ‚magic space’ between counterpointal layers in music was fun. I find that this is one way of making room for pleasantly surprising moments during improvisations. But holding on to your own idea is hard, when you are so socially sensitive! We all learned stuff today: myslef not in the least, misinterpreting their signals twice in one day…oh well, we all learn everyday, don’t we?
